Despite a recent wave of several staff within the Trump Administration publicly seen on every TV and Radio station denying that the president is under investigation, everyone in team Trump is lawyering up.
In this recent episode of a Closer Look from the Late Night with Seth Meyers you could laugh out loud hearing the confrontation between one of Trump’s lawyers and Chris Wallace from Fox News.
“Oh boy, this is weird,” said a Wallace in a state of exasperation.
But in fact it is real.
President Trump has only been 151 days in office (this article was written on June 20) and the F.B.I. has been investigating Trump’s campaign since more than a year ago, and even though no one within the Administration has yet been notified that the President is under investigation, it doesn’t mean there isn’t a real investigation that might include everyone from A to Z involved in the campaign.
Just follow the simple analogy from this short video below. Who would need a lawyer other than someone who has committed a crime or might be affected for lying or perjury?
Because the Russia probe mounts, Trump has gathered a team of lawyers to help defend him against the growing probe into Russian connections to his campaign and interference into the 2016 presidential election.
But as the investigations rock the administration, other US government employees are lawyering up as well. So Trump isn’t the only one and several Washington, DC law firms have said they’re getting a lot more inquiries from government employees, who are generally calling for one of three reasons: They’re worried about being caught up in an investigation, worried about being fired, or considering becoming whistleblowers.
Vice President Mike Pence has hired an experienced criminal lawyer to respond to requests from the special counsel and congressional committees investigating possible connections between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia.
President Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, has hired his own attorney.
At the end, it looks like everyone within Trump Administration took Lawrence’s advice to ‘lawyer up’.
